Boys Varsity Basketball comes to an end

Boys Varsity Basketball season came to a close after a district loss against Fort Zumwalt North. The Knights put up a fight but the game ended with a score of 49-66, taking third in their conference.

“After they had went on their run we handled coming back pretty well,” senior Andre Wooten said. “Up until the last couple of minutes.”

After being down at the beginning of the game the team didn’t give up without a fight.

“They were making their three pointers and we were not getting good looks. We were just not playing together,” Wooten said. “We cut the lead by moving the ball and getting the open shots and we started to get more stops on defense.”

The boy’s season ended with a record of 13-14.

“The season went very well, at least the last 20 games,” senior Clint Toedtmann said. “We started out very selfish but came together after winning the Seckmann Tournament. All in all it was a very exciting [season].”

Seniors like Toedtmann and Wooten ended their high school basketball career on a good note with one of the best records in the past three years.

“[Playing my last game was] very weird,” Toedtmann said. “It’s just hard to believe it’s really all over. I mean people are always saying how it flies by and it’s so true. I can’t believe it’s over.”

“It felt weird because after the game, coach was talking about what needs to be done in the off season and I was used to coming back but it hit me when I knew that was my last game” Wooten said.

The team loses four seniors this year. Still they are looking forward to next year’s season as they begin their preparations and work hard during the off season.

“They can have a good team but it will take a lot of work during the off season” Toedtmann said.

The seniors will be missed and will miss playing the game but leave the team with a piece of advice.

“Play every game like it’s your last because even though it feels like a long time it really isn’t,” Toedtmann said.
