Manmaker challenges cross country teams

On Saturday, September 17 cross country runners gathered from around the state to compete at Sioux Passage Park. The runners raced against 35 other schools. Throughout the day there were five races, Freshmen Boys, Freshman Girls, JV Boys, JV Girls, Varsity Boys, and Varsity Girls.
“Before the race I was scared; everyone said that it was very difficult,” freshman Dominique Meyer said. “They said that this was one of the hardest courses in the nation. When I first saw Manmaker I understood why, it was really hard to keep running up the hills, but I told myself that downhills were coming.”

Five people meddled in the Paul Enke Invitational at Sioux Passage. In the Varsity Girls race Brianna Schroer and Alexis Happe, in the JV Boys Steven Potter, in the Freshmen Dominique Meyer and Mike Butterfield.

“Running at Sioux Passage was actually a lot of fun,” sophomore Alexis Happe said. “The manmaker made me feel like a true man afterward.”

Now that the Sioux Passage race is over, the FHN cross country team heads to Koch Park on Friday, September 30.

“I loved that my team was there cheering me on the whole time,” freshman Dominique Meyer said. “I was very proud that I was able to finish the race.”
