Only a select few can actually make it to State, and sophomore Alexis Happe has achieved that goal.
“I’m proud I made it, but a few of my friends going too would have been way more fun,” said Happe.
Happe is the only student from FHN that qualified for this competition, and she has been running cross country since only the beginning of this year.
“I’ve been practicing a lot and I’m really exited to just simply beat my old time,” said Happe.
Happe’s fastest time on the 5K is 19:36. She has been practicing everyday after school so that she can perfect her time as much as possible.
“Running is a lot harder than it looks,” said Happe. “You have to run everyday or you’ll lose your stamina and there’s a lot more to it then just being fast.”
State will take place in Jefferson City on Nov. 5 and it will be a short event.
“All I can do is go out there and give it my best, and no matter how I do, I’ll be happy because I know I gave it everything I had,” said Happe.
