Last year’s Varsity Boys basketball team did not have as good of a season as they may have wanted to. This year, they are doing something to make sure that doesn’t happen again. Coach Bill Moyer is holding shoot arounds in the gym at 6:00 till 8:0on Mondays and Wednesdays and 12:00 till 1:30 on Sundays.
“Shoot arounds are important because if you don’t work hard in the offseason the other teams will be one step ahead of you for the following season,” sophomore Josh Carpenter said.
There has been regularly 12 to 15 people showing up for the shoot arounds. This is good because it gives more players time to work on a new system Coach Moyer has put in place this upcoming year. In previous years North has ran a zone coverage defense, and now this year they are working on a man to man coverage to help strengthen the defense.
“This year we are getting more work in then we got in last year,” sophomore Anthony Starks said.
The Varsity basketball team only lost one player from last year. This gives North a advantage over other teams because they have been playing with each other since last year.
“This year we basically have the same people as we did last year, so we all have really good chemistry together,” Carpenter said.
