Varsity Boys Basketball vs Troy [Recap]

_MG_9007 On Jan. 8 the Varsity boys’ basketball team recorded their second win of the season by defeating Troy (7-7) on their home court.
“I thought it went really well,” senior Kyle Lemons said. “We executed our plays really well.”
Troy led at the end of the first quarter 14-17, then went on a eight point run in the first three minutes in the second quarter to add more pressure to the Knights. The Knights fought back to bring the score 23-28 with Troy leading.
“It was a hard fought game by both teams,” Head Coach Darrell Davis said. “But we had a great second half.”
In the third quarter both teams fought extremely hard and kept the score close with Troy leading 35-38. In the first four minutes of the fourth quarter the Knights went on a 12-1 run bringing the score to 47-39 in North’s favor. Around the same time, Lemons recorded his second high school career alley oop passed from senior Blake Shambro.
“It was amazing, complete soul stopper,” senior David Purley said. “It completely silenced the other crowd.”
It silenced the crowd but it did not silence the other team, with Troy making a slight comeback to bring the score to 52-45, Knights leading. But they were not able to make the full comeback with North winning 60-55.
“It was a really good win,” junior Caleb Martin said. “But if we can’t look back at our losses then we can’t look back at our wins. We just have to work on our faults and work hard to get more wins.”
