On Oct 25. the North Knights varsity football team beat Washington high school.

_MG_9795 copyWith this win the team finished with a record of 3-6.   A much improved record compared to their 0-10 record of the year ago and their best record since 2010.

“I would say we have done good but we definitely not have done as good as we should have,” Senior wide receiver Andrew Cline said.  “We have had an opportunity to win a lot of the games we lost.  We are a lot better team then our record shows.”

On Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m., the Knights will play Hazelwood Central in the first round of districts.  Hazelwood Central is (9-0 ) winning 17 of their last 18 games in a row dating back to last year.
“We can’t make any mistakes,” Cline said “If we do everything like we know we can without shooting ourselves in the foot we definitely have a reasonable chance to beat them.”
The Knights, coming off a 39-29 win against Washington in which they put up 422 yards of total offense, feel they have a good chance against Hazelwood Central.  The Knights have won a game more than the previous two years combine and look to their newly established wild cat offense headed by senior Terry White.  White had two touchdowns and no picks in Friday nights game against Washington.
“Our biggest improvement would be our effort and our will to win,” Senior wide receiver Trevor Dames-Bolte said. “It’s a lot stronger than the year before. “
The knights will have to look towards their defense if they want to beat Hazelwood Central.  The Hawks have scored over 40 points in 6 of their 9 games so far this season and have outscored opponents 371-203. The Hawks passing game is led by Mike Glass.  Glass was Francis Howell’s quarterback last year.  Last year against the Knights Glass threw for two touchdowns and only one interception.
“A key factor in winning is execution and lack of metal mistakes,” Dames-Bolte said.
