Varsity Girls Basketball Plays in Preseason Scrimmage

The varsity girls basketball team kicked off their season at the Saint Charles West Jamboree scrimmage game. The Jamboree game is designed to get the teams ready for the season and to see what their competition is like. The coaches also get a chance to see what adjustments they need to make before the season starts. The teams play three, six minute quarters. North took on Saint Charles West in the first game.

“We have a young team this year, we only have three seniors,” senior Sierra Teuscher said. “We saw that we had potential to be very good this year.”

Saint Charles ended up winning in the last quarter 29-30. The girls had a few minutes to regroup before they had to play the Fort Zumwalt East Lions. The Knights put up 18 points in the first quarter and didn’t let up. The Knights won 28-15 against the Lions.

“Throughout the two games we played we all worked well together as a team,” junior Katie Turnbeaugh said. “ We were still fired up from the previous game and that carried over to the second game.”

The Lady Knights have been working really hard during preseason. Head Coach  Jamal Thompson and assistant coach Dawn Hahn couldn’t have been more pleased with the girls’ effort so far in this early season

“I like having the opportunity to play in the jamboree,” Coach Hahn said. “It gives us the chance to scout the competition and we know what parts of the game we need to focus on in practice to prepare for the season.”
