With high expectations, the Varsity Boys Baseball team dominated the unprepared CBC team with a final score of 12-2. The Knights ended the game in the 6th inning because they had scored 10 more runs than CBC causing an automatic forfeit of the other team.
“We knew we needed to step it up.” Head Coach Bob Dunahue said. “Winning kind of let’s us know that we can play with the big boys.”
Dunahue contributed the win mostly to the team but said that key players, seniors Chris Volpo, Mike Wilson, and juniors Braxton Martinez, Bryan Ryberg, and Cale Laughlin, were important to the game. Returning from a recent illness, Martinez was glad that he got to play.
“[The game] was great.” Martinez said. “They were state champs last year and we just beat them bad. This gives us a lot confidence going on in the rest of the season.”
The Knights now have a current record of 9-3 and are looking forward to their next game at Warrenton on April 7th.
