The Varsity Baseball team played Fort Zumwalt West on April 16 at T.R. Hughes. The Knights beat the Jaguars 13-10 in the 8th inning. Not only was this another win to add to their record this year but it was Coach Bob Donahue’s 400th win.
“ I enjoyed getting my 400th win. It was a representation of what the program has stood for from ‘86 to now, and it shows all the great kids we have had,” Coach Donahue said. “But I was more excited for the kids to come back and win the game than I was for it being my 400th win.”
Donahue contributed the game to a couple key players offensively, like Juniors Braxton Martinez who hit a home run, Tyler Ehlmann who had a couple good hits, and Seniors Mike Wilson who also hit a home run and Chris Volpo who had 4 good hits, but he said that this game was mostly a big time team win. Braxton Martinez started the game as the pitcher for the Knights. It was his first game that he got to pitch in this season.
“I was nervous when I first started pitching since it was my first game,” Junior Braxton Martinez said . “But after getting in the groove I was really confident.”
