Senior Mackenzie O’Brien is ready to take on her last season of high school soccer. O’Brien has been playing soccer ever since she was in kindergarten. Outside of school, Mackenzie plays for mid rivers which she has done the past 5 years.
“My favorite part of soccer is bonding with my besties and getting better each game because of our chemistry,” O’Brien said.
Mackenzie plays wing defense for the Lady Knights soccer team. She is most looking forward to having a good senior year with the team and winning as many games as possible. A main goal of hers would be to win districts and go even further.
Mackenzie’s sister, Meghan O’Brien, is a sophomore at Francis Howell North. Meghan plays JV soccer and enjoys playing soccer with her sister. Meghan feels that Mackenzie helps her do better in the sport.
“I really enjoy being with my sister before she leaves for college. She is a great influence on the way I play soccer and encourages me to do my best everyday. It’s also nice to have someone older who I can look up to,” Meghan said.
So far the team is 2-2 this season. O’Brien believes once they get their positions figured out, the team will be very good this year.
“In order to get better and win, the team has been working on playing together and putting together passes in order to get to the goal,” O’Brien said.
The Lady Knight’s next game is tonight at 6:00 on the Francis Howell North soccer field.
