KOE is hosting a hat day on Sept. 16 in order to raise money for the Children’s Cancer Center at St Jude’s Hospital.

“We choose to do hat days because kids want to wear their hats to school,” KOE sponsor Diane Holmes said. “They’ll pay a dollar for it, so it’s an easy way to raise money for a good cause.”

All proceeds from this hat day will go to St. Jude’s Hospital. There the money will be used to find a cure for cancer and to help families with their medical bills.

“We chose to donate to St. Jude’s because one of our former officers had cancer as a child and they cured and helped her out a great deal,” Holmes said.

On September 16, students will be allowed to wear a hat at school if they donate $1 in their first-hour class. Normally, hats are not allowed at school, so this is a unique opportunity.
“Hat days are always really fun,” Sophomore Baylee Franzen said. “I like knowing that the money is going to something good and I get to wear hats, which is nice because I own so many and I rarely get to wear them.”
