With the school year coming to a close, the girls’ soccer team prepares for the end of the season, which include Districts on May 16 at FHC. Having a record of 9-9-1, the team is hopeful for a good finish at the end of the season.
“I’m looking forward to making the most out of the last two games of the regular season this week and hopefully advancing with the varsity team on to districts next week,” sophomore Megan Crain said. “I think if we all have the right mindset, we can go pretty far.”
Even though the team had multiple players out with injuries, the girls were still able to enjoy the game. Practicing every day helped bring the team together and become closer as players. The team also had a number of team-bondings to connect as a team and as friends.
“I think that all the girls get along well as teammates and as friends outside of soccer so it helps with chemistry,” Crain said. “We quickly learned to play well with one another. I enjoyed the team-bondings that we have outside of school or laughing with my teammates about the weird and funny things all the coaches say.”
With Districts fast approaching, the team practices to take on Pattonville High School in the first round. This is the first time the Lady Knights will have played PHS this season, but they beat the Pirates last postseason. The score was 1-0 with the only goal scored by now-sophomore Abbie Miller.
“I think we have a chance at getting to state because I know we have the talent and ability to do it, we just have to show our abilities,” sophomore Bria Hamilton said. “We just have to utilize our talents to our best capacity and remain consistent when we do.”
