On Tuesday, Sept. 19, the girls golf team played in the GAC South Championship at Golf Club of Wentzville. They played teams like Francis Howell, Timberland, and Francis Howell Central.

“I feel really confident about it,” senior Briana Schmidt said. “I shot my best score of the season during the Knight Cup and I feel like I’ve been playing really consistently.”

Schmidt has been getting ready for this match by practicing after school and training mentally for the competition.

“Just keeping myself mentally prepared and trying not to get frustrated,” Schmidt said. “I don’t really get nervous anymore because, at the end of the day, it’s just golf.”

Last year, the team placed 6th in the match overall. After placing 9th last year in the championships with a score of a 97, Schmidt has high hopes for her last GACs.

“[I’m looking forward to] just enjoying my last GACs with the team and making Coach Witthaus proud,” Schmidt said. “I hope to place in the top 10 again and get a medal.”
