The FHN choir program is putting on their first ever Disney sing along. It will be on Nov. 22 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the FHN learning commons. Everyone is invited and admission is $5. Snacks and drinks may be purchased at the event to help raise money for the choir program.

“It’s kind of like a cross between a movie night and karaoke,” Choir director, Jennifer Onken said. “They can wear their comfy lounge clothes, think like a pajama party.”

In previous years the FHN choir program had karaoke nights, but this time they wanted something different and less nerve-racking then singing alone during karaoke. The Disney sing along will have everyone singing together to Disney’s hits.

“For karaoke nights you have to go up and sing in front of everyone and some people don’t feel comfortable doing that,” Choir member Brendan Gannon said. “So it’s kind of a way to get everyone to sing and still have fun.”

Although titled the ‘Disney sing along’, there will be songs from many different animation companies that have popular songs. Guests at the event can also put in requests for songs.

“It really is to just have fun and make people feel welcome and encourage people to join the choir program,” Gannon said.

The event is in part to help choir students raise money for their upcoming trip to Orlando. A portion of the money will also go to the choir to help fund their program. According to Onken, she hopes to continue this event for years to come.

“The goal is to have an absolute blast and for us to help some of the students who are traveling to Orlando to compete in Festival Disney in the spring,” Onken said.
