On Tuesday, August 31, 2021 the FHN boys swim team was getting ready for their first meet of the season. Both Francis Howell High and Francis Howell Central were at the meet. The meet was going well until it started raining. Sophomore Adam Prinkey was swimming at the meet when it started to rain.

“We were halfway into the swim meet when it started raining,” Prinkey said. “We were far enough into it to become very disappointed because we were hopeful about the meet.”

The boys were very hopeful about this meet because it was their first meet of the year and they wanted to win. Even though the team was up against some good teams, they thought they had a chance, but the storm put a damper on those plans.

“There were a lot of good schools there but we were hopeful,” Prinkey said. “The whole team was extremely disappointed because we were really hoping that we would win the meet.”

When the meet was about halfway through it started to rain. Even though the team was disappointed about the meet getting rained out they tried to make the best out of a bad situation. Sophomore Om Nair wanted to have fun and make the best out of a bad situation.

“We had a lot of fun before it started pouring,” Nair said. “When it was just raining we swam and it was super fun because I had never swam in the rain before.”

When the rain turned into a thunderstorm the meet was officially over and the team was disheartened. They had high hopes for the meet and it seemed like it was over before they even got to finish the whole meet. Even though the team was disappointed they wanted to make everyone feel better about the meet.

“When it started pouring all the guys went into the locker room and blasted music,” Prinkey said. “It made all of our moods better and we made the best out of the situation.
