Freshman Girls Volleyball fall short in FHN Tournament

On September 17, 2011, the freshman girls’ volleyball team fought for eight straight hours, from 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, for an all day volleyball tournament. The girls came up short losing all of the games they played. Francis Howell Central placed first and Duchesne placed second. Many players think that they can improve by just having a better attitude; one of those players was freshman, Genna Perry.

“We did not play very well because we played a lot of good teams, and when someone got down because of a mistake, it affected the rest of the team,” Perry said.

The challenge of this tournament was the fact that it was all day. Players were feeling tired and sore. Some are eager to practice to get better.

“I feel very tired and disappointed, but my team and I are ready to practice,” Perry said.

The team made mistakes that are very easily fixable. Players like Emily Gzybinski already figured out what she needs to improve on.

“I’ve could’ve done a lot better,” Grzybinski said. “I missed serves and I could’ve gotten better hits, very easy to fix and to improve on.”

The players have high spirits and are ready for their next tournament.

“Practicing on our basics and having better attitudes when we’re doing badly will help us a lot in future games and tournaments.” Perry said.
