At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, the North varsity soccer team kicked off their game against Francis Howell, which ended in a 1-7 North defeat, changing North’s record to 5-4.
The frustrated North team gave up 3 goals in the first half and 4 goals in the second, while only responding with one goal in the second half.
“They gave up in the second half,” coach Brady Demling said. “They put their heads between their legs feeling sorry for themselves.”
The Howell goals in the second half were scored by defender Josh Lonigro and forwards Josh Gwaltney and Jordan Stephens.
In the first half, Stephens scored the first goal of the game. Forward Ben Boyd and midfielder Austin Nelson were soon to follow with one goal each.
North’s lone goal was scored by forward Oscar Guerrero in the second half.
“We just have to move on to the next game,” coach Zach Fettig said. “We have a big game against St. Dominic on Thursday, so we can’t really look back on [this game].”
