“I am beyond ready,”  power forward Megan Hamelback said.

Basketballs tryouts started Nov. 4th and ended Nov. 8th. With 14 girls trying out and only 11 making the team.  All the players are already practicing everyday and working hard to be prepared for the season that will be full of rivalries and friendships. When Kristen Pike was asked how adding the new incoming freshman would change the team, she agreed it should definitely be interesting.

“The coaches are great. I think we will have a solid team,”  Freshman Lindsay McDonell said.

Coach Dan Lamb says he is looking forward to seeing all the girls reach individual success. He will be focusing on helping the players reach their goals and get them thinking about what they what to do. He says getting the girls pumped and prepared before each game helps motivate them to push them to the best they can be. Over all Lamb says he has a awesome group of girls that have a lot of knowledge about the game. He says the girls are over all what he’s looking for in a basketball player.

“Coachability, focus, and hard work,” Lamb said.

The freshmans biggest rivalry is sister school Howell Central. The Knights will face the lady spartans Dec. 18. The players are all working for a good defense. All the girls are really excited to get out there and show them what they are made of.  Their biggest goal for the team is playing well even if they come out with a loss instead of a win. They are also working on working together as a team which is a challenge for the girls. All of the girls are really excited for the season to start and improving on their strengths and weaknesses.

” I love being able to work together as a team and improve from beginning to end,”  Freshman point guard Allison Murphy said.
