Softball Season Recap

On Oct 8, the FHN varsity softball team goes to Ft. Zumwalt South to play the first game in Districts. Districts is the first step towards going to state. In Districts, they play various schools around the state, and if they win, they keep playing schools farther and farther away until they make it to state.

“I think we have a great shot at winning districts,” Audrey Baker said. “Our team is really talented this year, so I think we can beat any team if we all played to the best of our abilities.”

To begin the tournament, FHN did not have to play the first round because they were the second seed. The first team they played was FZS and took the victory with a score of 18-9.

“We came out a little shy, but after the first inning, we put our game faces on and were hungry for more runs,” Emma Pardo said.

As they played the second game against FZN, they were off to a great start. With Austine Pauley making the first homerun of the game, she put FHN at a good starting point.  She also made a diving catch to get the last out of the game. Pulling all the skills of the FHN varsity team together, they took the win 2-0.

“I was excited to start off the game that way because once one person does good, everybody else does good and I think it gave everybody else confidence that we had a chance,” Pauley said.

With all the effort and passion of the Lady Knight varsity softball team, they pulled off a win. After Varsity softball went to sectionals and won against Holt, the team lost to Marquette in the quarterfinals.

“I’m very proud of everybody on my team because we all did a great job and took home a win and I hope to keep winning throughout the rest of our games,” Janae Watkins said.
