Senior Sam Reimer is on the boys varsity volleyball team here at FHN, and has committed to play division 3 volleyball at Westminster College. He has been on varsity for one year and played for North for the past three years, starting his sophomore season. He played club volleyball for two years, one year for High Performance and one year for MOVA. Reimer is currently a right side hitter and plans to continue playing that position in college.

“I have always dreamed of playing any type of sport in college, but I definitely didn’t think it would’ve been volleyball,” Reimer said. “I’m most looking forward to growing as an athlete and getting better, playing with guys that are better than me, and competing with them to get me at their level.”

During the three years Reimer has played volleyball at North, Robin Yuede was the head varsity coach and overlooked the entire boys volleyball program. Reimer has always looked up to Yuede and appreciated how she was the first coach that made him fall in love with the sport.

“She is a great coach; she keeps her players in check and builds strong connections with them.” Reimer said. “I would say she’s the first volleyball coach I ever had that really just introduced me to the sport.”

During the three years Reimer has been in the program, he grew very close to his teammates. On top of all the growth Reimer has made as a volleyball player, he has also made so many memories with his team.

“My favorite memory is from my junior year when we won JV GACs,” Reimer said. “We played Central in the finals and we were 1-2 against them. They were our toughest opponent by far, so that win felt amazing.”

Reimer is a leader on the team and a great example for some of his younger teammates. Reimer is close with all of his teammates and is very supportive, so he always brings up the energy when he’s on the court.

“He’s a great teammate and we’re really close on and off the court,” sophomore Luke Hollinger said. “He always works hard and I think he’s going to do great things in college.”
