The Varsity girls Soccer team played in a showcase at Soccer Park in Fenton on April 8 and April 9. This showcase was a group of games that college coaches and scouts attended with hopes to find potential future players for their school. These games were played just like every other game, but these select games had the added pressure of playing for a future in soccer.
“[The pressure] made us try a lot harder,” junior Katy Friedlein said. “It made us want to win more so we looked better. Other than that, we played like we usually do.”
The Knights came out of this weekend 2-0, making their overall record 6-2. On Friday, the team escaped Quincy Notre Dame 1-0 with a goal in overtime by junior Nora Bradley. The Knights won on Saturday 2-0, with goals by junior Megan Frkovic and senior Kelsey Fouch. According to Frkovic, this was a very successful weekend.
“I definitely think it was worthwhile because it gave us extra games to get better,” Frkovic said. “It was more practice to prepare for May.”
