Tuesday April 23, the Howell North Volleyball team faced the Fort Zumwalt East Lions. The match was held at Howell North at 6:00 pm following the JV victory against the Lions at 5:00pm. The Knights started off with a great lead, and felt strong throughout the entire game. This gave them a good feeling going into the second game where Sophomore Adam Rogan went on a 9 point run right from the beginning. The Knights swept them in two games and won the match.
“I feel the game went very well, we played our game very well, we didn’t play down to their lower level.” Said outside hitter Logan Bergman. “I enjoyed the fact that we had enough room to good around and have fun.”
With such a lead the boys felt more comfortable and got to try things out of their normal comfort zone. Not only that but it gave all the players a newly found confidence boost that they needed coming off of their last lost against Howell.
Starting middle Lewis Stein said, “I felt pretty happy because it made me feel like we were a good team.” This is Stein’s 2nd year on the Varsity team. “We played really well, it wasn’t a very tough team nothing exciting.”
The Knights have only lost 4 games so far this season. This was their second time facing off against the East Lions and winning. Next weekend they have an out of town tournament in O’Fallon IL. This will be their biggest test so far facing the hardest teams they will play all season.
Senior Captain Mark Reichert said, “I thought it went well, we played hard.” Although the team breezed by East they still have a long season ahead of them. Reichart, “I think we need to close our blocks more.”
