Friday, March 28 The Varsity Boys Volleyball team prepared for the St. Louis Varsity Preseason Classic Tournament held at Francis Howell Central.
“Oh I’m ready to just dominate everyone,” senior co captain Logan Bergman said “We’re a strong team and I feel good about this tournament.”
With that said North faced a tough pool of teams for the first day of play; including Howell and Westminster. Francis Howell and North were both entering this tournament with their season record at 2-0. After falling to the Vikings twice last season the boys were ready for revenge; and they got it, defeating their rivals with a score of 25-27 and a second game score of 26-24. This victory secured the Knights position as first in their pool for the day.
“We hustled and put our serves in, we never stopped wanting the win so I’d say we deserved it,” junior Gabe Grote said.
As for Saturday’s morning of play Gabe said “It’s gonna be tougher than today but If we put our minds to it we’ll be fine.”
The team came out strong Saturday with a two-game win against Fort Zumwalt South. The boys seemed to lose momentum as the game against the Lindbergh Flyers progressed, after winning the first game the Knights fell to the Flyers and then again in the next game to the Parkway Central Mustang. After six games the Knights ended their day finishing fourth over-all.
“The lesson to take away from this for the rest of our season is that you never give up and always give your best when you can,” Said Grote.
