The first boys varsity volleyball tournament of the year will be held at Fort Zumwalt East high school on Fri., April 1 starting at 4 p.m.
“I’m confident that we will come first in our pool tomorrow,” senior defensive specialist Jacob Drum said. “We just need to work on fixing the little things because they can bring a team down even if they’re playing well. Getting rid of those can help keep the momentum up on our side and ultimately win the match.”
The tournament will roll over into Sat., April 2 and start at 9 a.m. The location for the second day of the tournament has yet to be determined but will be determined on Friday after the day’s games.
“During the second day of the tournament we will see the greater competition,” senior outside hitter Cameron Landers said. “No matter who we play, we’re bound to have some tough competition. We need to make sure we take care of business on the first day though.”
The team and coaches are excited for the first tournament of the season and are confident that they will do well. The team agrees that if they can communicate and fix little things on the court they will be successful in winning on both Friday and Saturday.
“I’m really excited for this tournament because I think we have a really good chance of winning,” senior outside hitter and captain Chase Powelson said. “I think we have prepared very well and we have had a good start to the season so I hope to continue that streak.”
