Francis Howell North’s large gym at 6:45pm right before the varsity boy’s basketball team played Timberland.

“I was supposed to be in last year’s inaugural class but I ruptured my achilles tendon. I was glad they allowed me to me inducted this year,” Chris Woods said.

Woods was in the class of 1991 and played three years of basketball at FHN. He averaged nine rebounds and 18.8 points per game. He still holds the school record for blocked shots in a single season with 162.

“I think it’s different coming back here because the building itself is bigger but the culture is still the same. You still get the same feel of the students and I think it’s fantastic,” said Woods.

This is the second year FHN has held the Hall of Fame induction, the program has been a work in progress for the past six years.

“I feel honored and blessed to be inducted. The cool thing is knowing your face and name will be up outside the gym forever,” Woods said.

Chris Woods (Class of ‘91): After his high school career, Chris was a 4 year letterman at Vanderbilt University where he started 2 out of his 4 years.  As a freshman Chris held Shaquille O’Neal to his lowest point total his last year of college but lost a tooth in the process.  In 1993, the Commodores finished with the best record in school history and were crowned SEC champions.  They advanced to the sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament that year and in 1994 they were runners up in the post-season NIT in Madison Square Garden.  By the end of his career, Chris was second in school history for blocked shots and is still 4th on Vandy’s all-time list.  He still holds the Vanderbilt record for dunks in a game with 9.

Currently, Chris is VP of sales for a real estate investment firm.  Chris is married to Kierstan.  Chris, Kierstan and their daughter Sarah live in the Washington DC area.
