On Friday, January 9, the varsity wrestling team will compete in the GAC tournament at St. Charles West. This years varsity team features four seniors, eight juniors, and seven sophomores on the varsity team. This years team is lead by returning state qualifier Sam Ritchie. He look to lead the team on another impressive conference run. Ritchie is coming off a championship at the Lindbergh Flyers Holiday Tournament. He hopes to have another impressive outing at this tournament. The rest of the team also had a good outing at the Holiday Tournament with every wrestler advancing to the second round. They too look to improve in the GAC Tournament after falling to Timberland last year.

team they recently beat 36-44. If they win they will go on to play the winner of the Duchesne vs. Barat game. This is the first time FHN has competed in this tournament. The team looks to turn its 3-6 season around by stringing together a couple of wins and making another run at the conference championship. They are lead by juniors Austine Pauley and Jessica Brady. In the game against FZN, Brady posted a double-double and Pauley put up 15 points.

Hockey vs FHC

On Saturday, January 10, hockey takes on Francis Howell Central at the St.Peters Rec-Plex. This will be the second meeting between the two teams with FHC taking the first 8-3 a month ago. FHN’s overall record is 7-6-2, with four of those wins coming after their loss to FHC. This years team is lead by seniors Brycon Johnson, and Brennan Buerck, who look to continue the midseason turnaround. Johnson leads the team in goals with 20 so far this season. Buerck leads the team in assists with 16. They will have to produce offense on Saturday since they will be going against a team that has six players with ten or more goals this season.
