Boys Basketball at the FZN Invitational

This week the varsity basketball team will participate in the FZN Invitational. Their first game was a loss to Sikeston on Monday by a score of 53-81. After that rough loss the team bounced back in a close win to Carnahan 45-43. Carnahan was having an equally rough season with both teams only having four wins.

That being said the Knights and sophomore star Justin Matthews-Williams  seized the opportunity to get a win.The Knights play Thursday for the Consolation Championship.  After this tournament FHN will have a very hard time getting wins. They don’t play a team with a worse record than their own for the rest of the season. This game is a must win to boost the morale of the team.

Girls Basketball vs Pattonville

On Thursday Jan 29, the varsity girls basketball team will play at home against Troy. The Lady Knights are 6-8 before their game on thursday. In their last game the FHN lost to FHHS by an embarrassedly big margin.  They also look to bounce back against the 5-9 Trojans away from home. This win would put the Knights in third place in the conference, and poised to make a run at FHC and FHHS for the title.

Francis Howell Thrasher

Also on Thursday, the varsity wrestling team will participate in the Howell Thrasher meet. FHN needs this win mainly for bragging rights, but also to bounce back after their big loss to Troy. Some big things have been happening recently for the wrestling team. At that wrestling meet the 1991 state championship wrestling team was inducted into the FHN hall of fame. The freshman team avenged its only loss to Troy when they won at that meet. Then they went on to win the GAC championship. Hopefully the varsity team can follow their example and win against their rivals on Thursday.
